Abtract.
The Agricultural Transformation Pathways (ATP) for Uruguay and two other selected study cases issued in 2016 in the frame of the UN´s Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) projectmade relevant advances in setting the desired and feasible goals and development objectives for 2030 (Schwoob et al., 2016). Beef is one of the main agri-food chains included in Uruguay´s first studies given is the country´s main export and production is the largest in terms of land used (12,6
million ha) and farms involved (44780).
Understanding the relationship among the multiple factors driving farmers´ decision making process is crucial for policymakers and experts selecting the best pathway to overcome roadblocks and reach goals. This paper addresses the relationship between farm business orientation, farm size, technological level, production performance and economic return in the beef cattle production sector. The objective is to understand the main constraints to the adoption of technology and the main factors to consider in the design of future assistance programs. |

Para determinar la variabilidad del recurso suelo en un potrero de 6 ha. se relevó su conductividad eléctrica y altitud y se definió zonas
productivas (n = 4 zona). Se caracterizaron las variables físico-químicas de suelo hasta 15 cm de profundidad. En 3 ocasiones de pastoreo durante la primavera de 2017 se relevó altura de forraje previa al pastoreo con pasturómetro c-dax (con GPS) y mediante la calibración se lo transformo a kg MS/ha. Se tomó muestras de cada zona por método ?hand plucking? para registrar el % de aporte de leguminosas. La información fue procesada geoestadísticamente mediante Infostat y Arcgis, ajustando tipo de semivariograma e interpolando por kriging ordinario. Los datos de cada zona fueron comparados mediante PROC GLM de SAS. En los 3 pastoreos todas las zonas difirieron entre sí (P<0.0001) en biomasa disponible: en el pastoreo del 05-09-17 alcanzaron 3203 ± 18.3 kg, 2615 ± 23.8 kg, 3295 ± 16.9 kg, 3638 ± 16.4 kg las zonas 1, 2, 3 y 4, respectivamente; el pastoreo del 10-10-17 (P<0.0001) alcanzaron 3248 ± 20.1 kg, 2763± 24.2 kg, 3457 ± 17.0 kg, 3743 ± 17.2 kg las zonas 1, 2, 3 y 4, respectivamente; en el pastoreo del 06-11-17 alcanzaron 2297 ± 20.7 kg, 1890 ± 24.5 kg, 2450 ± 17.6 kg, 3042 ± 18.5 kg las zonas 1, 2, 3 y 4, respectivamente. Se puede observar que dentro de un mismo potrero existen diferencias entre zonas productivas delineadas según conductividad eléctrica y altitud, que llegan hasta los 1000 kg. de MS/ha de forraje disponible en cada pastoreo. Estas diferencias pueden producir errores en la asignación de pasto por vaca si no son tenidas en cuenta, causando potenciales variaciones en el consumo de forraje de los animales.
